Rein in BATFE abuses; stop their firearms registration database

All available evidence supports the conclusion that Michael J. Sullivan and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE or ATF) in addition to shutting down legitimate, law-abiding firearms dealers, are in the process of creating an illegal database of all gun owners in the United States.
Creating this database could certainly be seen as the first step in firearms registration, prohibition, and confiscation. If We The People do nothing, Sullivan, the Acting Director, and this federal agency with a current budget of nearly $1 billion and some 5,000 employees may do exactly that.
The penultimate thing we need is ATF agents prying our guns from our “cold dead fingers.” The last thing we need is to lose our freedom and the God given right of self defense.
This Call To Action is addressed to the 80 million gun owners in the U.S. and includes:
1. Now. Get to know our (we fund them with our tax money) ATF agency and their congressional mandates and agendas by:
a. browsing the BATFE web site and try to communicate with them if you have questions
b. reviewing the Essential Guide to Firearms and Gun Control
c. browsing sites such as jpfo.org, elfie.org, redstradingpost, atfabuse.com,
d. talk to firearms dealers (past and present) as to their experience(s) with the ATF and how best to deal with the issues that confront us
e. surf the Internet for articles regarding the ATF, e.g., here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, etc.
f. talk to, attend conferences, and join gun organizations such as the Gun Owners of America, NRA, SAF, JPFO, NSSF, and your state gun owners associations
g. purchase at least one copy of the video, “The Gang, How a Government Agency Uses the Law To Destroy Your Rights And Freedoms” from JPFO, watch it, then pass it on
h. watch the on-line videos regarding the BATFE or ATF such as these, some of these (a good number of them are not relevant), and a few of these
2. Immediately. When you become convinced that the BATFE is overstepping and abusing its congressional mandate, contact your Senators and ask that they NOT confirm Sullivan as Director of the BATFE, and why. Sullivan is currently Acting Director as a Bush appointee (he is also a United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, which could partially explain his overreaching).
3. Immediately. Sign Red’s Trading Post online petition asking for The Fair Treatment of FFL Dealers by the BATFE. Is that really too much to ask?!
4. ASAP. In the 109th Congress (2006) the House passed HR 5092 which was the BATFE Modernization and Reform Act by a vote of 277-131. The purpose of the legislation was, among other things, to protect the rights of firearms retailers. Unfortunately, Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) were able to derail the bill in the Senate. We must now get another legislative action going which will protect our rights. If any one knows of existing/pending legislation (I couldn’t find any online), please let me know.
5. Immediately. Ryan Horsley, Manager of Red’s Trading Post was able to put together a well attended Regulatory Fairness Forum in Boise, ID last week. Ryan says, “Letters on behalf of firearms dealers {were submitted} to the National Ombudsman Nicholas Owens who is empowered to receive, substantiate and report to Congress complaints and comments from small business owners about regulatory enforcement actions taken against small businesses by federal agencies.” If you or someone you know is being unjustly harassed by the ATF then please fill out this form and send it in.
6. ASAP. Get yourself a blog site and become a member of The Gun Blogs and other online groups such as Yahoo! gun groups. Spread the word via the Internet as well as personally. Attend your local gun club meetings and ask for their support. Keep in touch with others who are endeavoring to reform the BATFE and coordinate strategy.
7. ASAP. Financially support the gun rights organizations for which you are able.
8. Oh Yeah…get out there and shoot. Enjoy a fantastic hobby as well as a Constitutional right! This Call To Action is about your rights. GET INVOLVED – or lose them!

Should Sullivan become confirmed, all gun dealers should, immediately, destroy all 4473 forms, currently, in possesion as a protest!
-Uzziel-
Uzziel,
An intriguing idea, though I doubt that we (or the BATFE) have gotten the attention of enough of the dealers yet. Note that a 1969 Supreme Court decision states that the First Amendment does not protect speech that incites imminent lawless action, thus I obviously cannot recommend such action herein.

[...] This crap from an agency that works for US, We The People, must cease. In a previous post I suggested ways to combat these egregious abuses by Sullivan’s BATFE. THE BATFE MEANS TO HAVE YOUR MEANS OF SELF PROTECTION, YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHT, YOUR PROPERTY, AND ULTIMATELY CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE. Ignore our clarion call at your, your families, and your nations peril. Get involved NOW! [...]
[...] Red’s Trading Post and various and sundry gun bloggers and activists are urging everyone to contact the Senate to insist upon a “NO” vote on Micheal Sullivan confirmation as director of BATFE. [...]
[...] Do note that Kerry said the above with a straight face (fingers weren’t crossed) when he is fully aware that the ATF under Sullivan is eliminating firearm dealers and manufacturers, creating a database of gun owners (which can only mean eventual confiscation), and pursuing and literally breaking (financially and emotionally) citizens on arbitrary charges.
