Ron Paul finishes fifth in Iowa Straw Poll

Disappointed? Yes. But if it were going to be easy, then the U.S. would not be in the mess in which we find ourselves.
Ron Paul coming in fifth with low ’voter’ turnout (about half of 2004’s turnout) and in a very conservative state (as indicated by Huckabee’s good showing) is not that bad. Nine percent of the vote for someone who, just four months ago, was known primarily to Libertarians and 14th congressional district Texans, is not bad.
We must redouble our efforts. Get involved in a local Meetup group or start your own. We must get Dr. Paul’s name, strict Constitutionalist position, and platform out there. We must get the public aware of the sorry state of our union and Dr. Paul’s solutions. Dr. Paul is our best chance for change.
Iowa Straw Poll results:
1. Gov Mitt Romney, 4516 votes, 31.6%.
2. Gov. Mike Huckabee, 2587 votes, 18.1%
3. Sen. Sam Brownback, 2192 votes, 15.3%
4. Tom Tancredo, 1961 votes, 13.7%.
5. Ron Paul, 1305 votes, 9.1%
6. Tommy Thompson, 1,009 votes, 7.3%
7. Fred Thompson, 231 votes, 1.6%.
8. Rudy Giuliani, 183 votes, 1.3%
9. Duncan Hunter, 174 votes, 1.2%.
10. John McCain, 101 votes, 0.7%.
11. John Cox, 41 votes, 0.1%.
Iowa state auditor, David Vaudt, unofficially certified that 14,302 ballots were cast.
